M. Elaine Burgess began working with The Coquat Law Firm in 2010, while in her last year of law school. Her skills as a former paralegal and productivity as an intern parlayed into a full time job offer upon her graduation from St. Mary’s School of Law. She focuses her practice on misdemeanor citations, such as traffic tickets, minor in possessions, and public intoxication, and occupational licenses.
Before joining The Coquat Law Firm, Elaine attended Baylor University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film, Television and Radio in 2000. She then moved to Houston and worked as a paralegal for a number of years before deciding her real place in the profession was as a lawyer. Elaine decided to attend St. Mary’s School of Law in San Antonio for its location and reputation. Her experience while in law school prompted her to make San Antonio home after passing the bar. The high energy and boutique style of practice prompted her to make The Coquat Law Firm her professional home. She is licensed in all courts in the State of Texas and the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas.
Elaine enjoys reading famous works of literature, attending classic car shows and tattoo conventions, all things art deco, 1950’s music, and spending time with family. She also volunteers her time with the local Bridges to Life organization, which focuses on restorative justice in prisons.
